Domaine de la Tournelle: Natural Wine from Jura

Since 1991, in Arbois, in the Jura, the Domaine de la Tournelle has been striving to offer natural wines of terroir. They only produce wines from grapes they grow themselves.

Evelyne and Pascal Clairet leave grass every second row. For the treatment of the vines and to have the healthiest grapes possible, they use the famous Bordeaux mixture, a little sulphur, silica and a few other biodynamic recipes (but they have only been certified organic since 2010).
After rigorous sorting and harvesting by hand, the grapes are vinified with indigenous yeasts from the vineyard and developed by the cellar. The wine is aged in barrels on fine lees in old barrels, no filtration, and no SO2 during vinification or bottling.

Note: Pascal Clairet, considered a pillar of Arbois, and an unconditional defender of wines without inputs, left us in 2021… The world of natural wine (and wine in general) has lost a talented and appreciated winegrower.. .
